If You Intend To Pack Yourself, Here Is A Few
Packing Tips You May Find Helpful

Keep Boxes 50 lbs. Or less
If someone has to lift it and it is too heavy the bottom may open up
causing damages. Make sure the box is taped securely with packing
tape,
do not use masking tape.

Pack boxes to the very top
Use unprinted newspaper (white print) if possible to prevent ink
stains to fill to the top. Old card board is also useful. Boxes not
filled properly to the top tend to crush.

Mark your boxes well
Identify what boxes is going in what room of the new home. Keep in
mind that when the boxes are loaded on the truck it may have to be
packed on its side, watch for bottles of liquid or other items that
may spill. It would be good idea to prepare an "Incidental Box" that
contains a few dishes, soap, towels, toilet paper, drinking glasses,
drinks, utensils, first aid kit, etc.

Watch what you pack and how you pack it
Before you begin packing your box be sure to make a nest of
crumple paper on the bottom of box. Begin by wrapping the bigger
and heaviest dishes for the bottom layer of the box. Wrap plates in
bundles of 3 to 4 plates and lay them on edge with bottom of plates
nearest, to side wall of box. Once a full layer of dishes has covered
the bottom of box be sure to add an other layer of crumple paper on
top to make a nest for the next layer of dishes. Point all cup
handles and pitcher towards the middle of the box and never next to
the side of the box. Be sure to pack dishes on end - side by side on
the bottom. When packing books use small boxes 1.5 cubic foot, so
the movers can lift them safely. Do not pack corrosive or flammable
items such as bleaches, batteries, propane, matches, plastic
squeeze bottles, lighter fluid etc. It is best to take these items in
your own car. Medicine and food items should be taped shut and
marked accordingly.

What to do with clothes in dressers?
Provided your dressers are not too heavy to begin with, you could
simply leave clothes in drawers. In case that the dressers are too
heavy, the drawers can be taken out and covered with white print
paper. In this case we at Loutur Moving & Storage would wrap the
drawers in moving pads and taped.

CHILDREN HAVE A TENDENCY TO BE RESTLESS

WHAT TO DO WITH CHILDREN?
For the sake of children, it is often helpful to have them
stay with friends or relatives during the move.

WHAT TO DO WITH PETS?
Dogs:
Will want to greet the movers or be somewhat
curious of the going ons and have a tendency to be in the
movers way, where they could get hurt or cause accidents
for the workers. It is best to keep them away in an other
room or in a kennel.
Cats: Have a tendency to get extremely nervous while
movers are in their mids. It has been found so traumatic of
an experience for them that, they may try to run away and
hide and may not around when you are ready to leave. It is
best to keep them in an other room or cage.

FREEZER & REFRIGERATOR CONCERNS
When your refrigerator and freezer arrives at new location, be sure
not to plug them in for at least 4-6 hours. If plugged in at the wrong
time you could burn out their compressor. Call a serviceman if you
have any doubts. Frozen food should remain frozen for a few hours
provided they are in a well sealed cooler.

EXTRA STORAGE
If you have too much furniture, you may need additional storage.
Check around for reasonable price on extra space you need. We at
